Create Your Website
A website is essential is your business!
You may think with iphones, podcasts, webinars, instagram, facebook, youtube etc why do you need a website. Well, because your website is piece of real estate online that you actually own and can control.
As fabulous as social media can be, you don’t own it. Algorithms can change, your page can be shut down, your followers can go away or a social media site can fade in popularity like, ahem, Myspace. Therefore, no matter wherever else you spend time online you want to get people back to your website – the place you have control over.
How do you control your website you wonder? You control it with brand design – the colors, fonts, pictures, graphics and videos all affect the feel and look of your site.
You also control it with brand messaging – the copy that describes what you do and why. And, lastly, you control exactly how you help your audience – emails, blog posts, products and courses. So, it’s super important that your website is appealing, grabs visitors attention and easily guides them along to take action.
WordPress is the Word
The platform you use for your website greatly affects how much you control. To have complete control of your business website for now and later, I highly recommend (and personally use) a self-hosted WordPress website.
Here are a few reasons why:
1. WordPress is Free – WordPress is open-source and free to download. There is no fee at all like other platforms that do charge
However, to be self-hosted you do need to purchase your own domain name and hosting, which can be bought together. It’s important to note when signing up with other platforms, they may own your domain name.
This becomes a problem if you want to use a different platform later. You may have to jump through hoops to get your domain back. Or, as I have personally experienced with some clients, it’s was easier to choose a new domain name altogether.
2. WordPress is Versatile – There are no limits with WordPress. Create as many websites as you like. Add as many pages and contributors as you want. It’s completely customizable too.
With over 3000 free themes (and tons of premium ones) and over 48,000 free plugins, you’re able to build anything you like.
This type of flexibility allows you to be as big or as small as you want, which is crucial for a business. As your business grows there is no need to transfer to a new platform because WordPress can absolutely handle any growth.
3. WordPress is a Trusted Brand – 30% of all the websites on the internet are WordPress and many high profile brands trust WordPress.
For example, CNN, New York Post, Vogue, Disney, Sony Music, New York Times, MTV News, Beyonce, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, The Rolling Stones and many other companies and celebrities have websites built on the WordPress platform.
Are you ready to create something fantastic?
Creating a website is a huge deal and I’m sure you want to set it up right the first time. I’m happy you’re here and I’d love to help you make your dream a reality!
